Maitreya Buddhist Centre
Maitreya Buddhist Centre was founded with the purpose of
helping people throughout Bexhill and the surrounding area to find
happiness within their own minds. All are welcome to visit.
Maitreya Centre is a Buddhist Centre that is a member of
the New Kadampa Tradition of Mahayana Buddhism, which aims to make
Buddha's teachings available to everyone, whatever their experience or
interest. Since our lives are so busy, we need a special way of
developing and maintaining inner peace. The system of meditation taught
in the Kadampa Tradition is perfectly suited to the modern world, being
easy to understand and put into practice, yet bringing profound results.
Maitreya Buddhist Centre was founded in 2004 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Spiritual Director of the New
Kadampa Tradition. The Centre offers introductory classes for anyone
interested in meditation and the Buddhist way of life. These
self-contained classes give a basic introduction to Buddhist
philosophy, psychology and meditation. Classes are held on Monday evenings from 7.30pm at Maitreya Centre Bexhill, in Hastings on Tuesday evenings at The Unitarian Church, 7A South Terrace, from 7.30pm and in Rye on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm, We also offer
Lunchtime Meditations on Tuesday and Thursday from 12.45pm, and an
Introduction To Meditation class on Fridays at 2.00pm, here at Maitreya Centre Bexhill, full details can
be found here. |
